Client Commission
Ever wondered what happens if you give a freelance designer an idea and let them run away with your idea, check out this post from Mr Nope to peep at his latest client commission.
Last week i was commissioned by one of my long term clients Tiging Them Softly Garage to create a graphic that they could use on a number of upcoming projects they have coming up for 2022, I’ve know the chaps at Inanimate Automation for the best part of a year and worked with them heavily throughout 2021. If you’ve been following me on Instagram @mr_nope you may have seen some of the projects we’ve worked on in the past.
Currently the image below is our latest collaboration, El Jefe at Inanimate Automation is Gustavo, and the image below is pretty much his own creation i just had the pleasure of bringing it to life for them in glorious vector graphics.
Let me know what you think in the comments below ?

The Joys Of Brexit - U.K Shipping update
Boris & The E.U finally reached an agreement on trade just before the end of 2020 which now clarifies how business is to be done going forward.
I have had to find alternative suppliers in the UK to work around this where possible and I have in place a number of suppliers to help keep the Brexit impact to UK customers as low as possible.

I have had to find alternative suppliers in the UK to work around this where possible and I have in place a number of suppliers to help keep the Brexit impact to UK customers as low as possible.
As such the new rules below will only impact the following products.
STICKERS
SKATEDECKS
ACCESSORIES
Under the new deal it’s fairly simple to figure out, I’ve broken it down below the three scenarios which impact UK customers as of January 1st 2021.
ORDERS UNDER 22 EUR
If you place an order from my store and the total including shipping is under 22 euro’s, then your order will not receive any further charges.
ORDERS OF 22 EUR TO 150 EUR
If you place an order from my store and the total including shipping is between 22 - 150 euro’s, then your order will be subject to UK VAT.
This means that you will be liable for the UK VAT for the total cost of the order, this amount will be collected by the courier upon delivery of the order.
ORDERS OVER 150 EUR
If you place an order from my store and the total including shipping is between 22 - 150 euro’s, then your order will be subject to UK VAT & UK Import duties.
This means that you will be liable for the UK VAT & import duties for the total cost of the order, this amount will be collected by the courier upon delivery of the order.
I hope this provides some clarity for my UK customers, while it isn’t ideal I’ve tried to limit the impact as much as possible and make any changes as hassle free as I can.

Brexit & Nope
Over the last couple of weeks I have been busy trying to figure out what Brexit will mean for me, A British person who now lives for seven years in The Netherlands. As it stands today it’s as clear as Mud. (Blame is at the UK’s door for this)
Over the last couple of weeks I have been busy trying to figure out what Brexit will mean for me, A British person who now lives for seven years in The Netherlands. As it stands today it’s as clear as Mud. (Blame is at the UK’s door for this)
This is because as we head closer to the deadline there is no deal in place between the EU & The UK.
The Dutch government have been as you would expect, super pro active as best they can be, I am now an official resident of the Netherlands and I’ve applied for a license to continue to trade with the UK.
In fact Just today I applied for my EORI number with the UK tax office so I can continue to do trade with the UK - why I need a second bit of paper work was not explained on HMRC, but whatever.
So as it stands I’m ready as I can be to trade with my own country when Brexit occurs, That is as much as I or anyone can do for now with regarding what will happen as we edge closer to the deadline day of January the 1st.
The one thing that’s concerning me and i’m sure a number of small independent businesses maybe worried about, is cost.
I know UK shipping charges will increase, all my postal services have indicated as such, but no indication by how much.
What i’m unsure of and maybe UK people will need to be made aware of, Is that despite me setting up a trading license & setting up the EORI number, to continue to trade with the UK it’s going to cost me more money which being a small business i’m not sure I can afford to do vs the rewards.
As an example I order things from the US all the time and when it arrives I have to pay customs fees, which can be quite the shock even for a t-shirt. As it stands my UK customers could be in the same situation come January.
Honestly I don’t know for certain if this will be the case for the UK but I can’t imagine it would be any different, until the UK Government pulls its finger out. So much so I’m incredibly tempted to pause UK sales as of Jan 1st or until there is any clarity what Boris and his sovereign nob heads want to do.
I have also been informed that there will be some extra delays of 2-3 days at UK customs (lets double this estimate because it will be a new process) which will cause untold frustration for me and my customers.
This really raises the question for me as a sole trader - Do I continue to sell to the UK ?
I guess time will tell but it’s not looking very favourable based on the current situation.
I will put out another update when I know more.

This week sees the pre-order launch of my new Hell No Kitty series, following up to the first Pussy extraction Gorefield pieces I released at the beginning of the year.
I wasn’t supposed to be dropping the Hell No Kitty series soo late in the year, but with all the issues of the Covid-19 pandemic nothing has got as planned this year.
I’ve had to focus on client projects to keep my business going. Turns out pandemics are a bit of a pain in the ass.
The Hell No Kitty drop consists of a skate deck, tee & a pretty epic holographic kitty sticker. The stickers are currently shipping now (free shipping on all stickers). The T-Shirts & skateboard are on pre-order until shipping begins the on the 1st of September.
Numbers as always are super limited, but I’ve added in an extra size on the skateboard deck, so you can now grab it in 8, 8.25 & 8.5 inch width. For the T-Shirt I’ve had them produced in black with a crazy pop of neon for the print, along with a nice clean white variation.
You can check out the new Hell No Kitty launch below.
Thanks

What my customer did next....
Find out what my customers have been upto with their skatedecks, Mr Nope Shares the build of his most popular skateboard deck to take, come inside and have a butchers.
This Friday I received a pretty epic email from one of my customers who had bought one of the Garfield Pussy extraction decks.
The customer was originally going to hang the skate deck on the wall, but instead decided to truck it up, attach some wheels, slap on a grip & take it for a ride, all while taking some snaps for yours truly.
I absolutely love receiving emails from customers about what they have done, or are planning to do with some of the things I have created, in a way it feels a little surreal!
To think that someone somewhere is rocking something I designed or made is so humbling, well for me it is, it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do, and when people actually appreciate it. It’s just awesome, makes it all worth while.
Below Oliver kindly listed the part he used to build he deck, which he’s done an awesome job on to be fair, far better the me.
Supreme X Spitfire Gold 58mm Wheels
Independent X Stage 11 Skateboard trucks (Blk/Silver 139mm)
Bones Super Swiss 6 Bearings
Doomsayers “Parking Only” Slider Rails
Bones 1/8” Riser Pads
Independent Genuine Parts Phillips Hardware Blue/Black 1”
Grizzly Acid Test Stamp Griptape
The images are at the bottom.
Big Thanks to Oliver for sending this info through, means so much buddy. Thanks for all the support.

This week at Nope Towers
It’s been quite the week here at Nope Towers, I have been working flat out with corona virus face mask designs for clients this week, I think at my last count I had done well over 200 in just under a week, and next week is pretty much more of the same, no complaints from my side, in a time like this and with my order book essentially furloughed it’s been a welcome surprise.

I have however managed to begin uploading some of my new stickers, prints & skateboard decks to the store this week. I have been working on most of these bits during the lockdown and I’ve still got a hell of a lot to upload to my site that are yet to see the light of day. I’ve not forgotten about football prints btw, I will be adding more of the original shirt prints along with a new series (more on that in a few months) I have a pretty steep backlog of requests with football shirt prints.
Currently I Have the Alice In Palace skateboard deck series on Pre-Order until May 31st, I actually already have the stock sitting in my office for these along with the Dead Pez deck which is also on Pre-Order, but to avoid any delay’s this time and now i’ve added another size of deck, I’ve decided to hold the stock rather than wait for it. This gives me far less sleepless nights and ensures all the pre-orders will be leaving on time.
Finally I have all the new apparel & accessories range almost done, I’m still sampling and finalising new tees & hoodies at the moment but it’s looking like ill be on for around Mid June to have a Fresh new Apparel selection for Mens & Women’s and maybe kids … (yeah I do listen to all the emails…sometimes)

Coronavirus, Skateboard Decks & Etsy
It goes without saying my store & my freelance services will be open during the Coronavirus outbreak, I’m a freelancer and I hibernate/isolate as a hobby.
Just a little update from me as the world begins to go into full shutdown.
Coronavirus
It goes without saying my store & my freelance services will be open during the Coronavirus outbreak, I’m a freelancer and I hibernate/isolate as a hobby.
Currently the Netherlands is almost fully closed and as the outbreak continues to develop the above statement might change and I may have some issues fulfilling store sales, but for now all is well.
Skateboard Decks
This week I’ve just completed the shipping of all my skateboard deck orders, all 90 of you should have your tracking numbers in your email inboxes. The tracking numbers will activate as soon as the items leave the Netherlands, the final batches were picked up today.
More skateboard decks are in the pipeline & as soon as the samples are back I’ll share what I am planning, at your request though I’ll be stocking a number of different sizes from 7.75 - 8.5.
Etsy
Along with this website I also had an Etsy store which I ran alongside the website, this has now been closed.
Why?! Etsy closed my store due to IP infringement. As you all know I love football kits and make prints and then name them after the team in some way. Sadly for me this lead to me having my store closed because I used the following terms. “The Canaries” “The Hatters” & “Forest”.
Not to worry though, I will now be focusing more of my time on my main website nopeshop.com
